7 in 10 Americans with diabetes also have OSA
If you have Type 2 Diabetes, snore, and feel tired after a full night’s sleep, you might have Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) has released clinical evidence to prove that patients suffering from two very common illnesses – type 2 diabetes and hypertension – are at much higher risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Research also has shown that treating OSA can help in the management of both type 2 diabetes and hypertension. AASM recommends anyone with type 2 diabetes or hypertension be evaluated by a board-certified sleep medicine physician.
